God Does Not Cast Off His People 2

Text: Hosea 2:14-23

Memory Verse: “Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”
(Hosea 2:23).

God decided to use Hosea as a sign to the children of Israel. He commanded him to marry a harlot and have children born of harlotry (Hosea 1:4,6,9). The woman moved away from her husband until her lovers abandoned her, but God, in His mercy, instructed Hosea to restore her and the children. A typical example of what transpired between the children of Israel and God. He redeemed them from slavery in Egypt, yet they deserted Him and worshipped Baal.

More alarming is the way they treated the Word of God. Deuteronomy 13 warns severally about the consequences of their disobeying God. They disobeyed God frequently and were consequently dispersed. Yet in 1948, God gathered
them again as a nation. Today the land of Israel has become one flowing with milk and honey again, due to its agricultural products which are recognised all over the world.

Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, once regarded as Gentiles, have been brought into the covenant which God made with Israel. We sometimes sin and fall short of the glory of God, yet if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to
forgive and cleanse us from all our unrighteousness (1 John 1:9); He does not forsake us. So, as His people among whom He dwells, we will, in the end, join the Redeemed to sing praises to God and to the Lamb in heaven saying, “He will always be with us. He will not cast us off.”

Prayer Points:
1. I worship You, Lord, for Your tender mercies.
2. Thank You, Lord, for the assurance that You will not cast us off.
