God Will Restore Your Honour

Text: 2 Samuel 19:24-30

Memory Verse: For all my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king. Yet you set your servant among those who eat at your own table. Therefore what right have I still to cry out anymore to the king?” (2 Samuel 19:28).
It is natural for man to want to boast of his pedigree. Paul said he could boast of the flesh because he was “of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness, which
is in the law, blameless” (Philippians 3:5-6).

Mephibosheth did not have this advantage; his grandfather lost the throne because God rejected him, his father perished in battle, and he was lame. Yet God never forgot him. His servant deceived him to set him against King David, yet he remained faithful to the king. He waited patiently in a mourning mood for the return of the king. At the end, the king restored his honour.

His name was Mephibosheth; one who destroys or dispels shame. Life is full of crippling experiences. We make bad decisions that attempt to destroy us. Perhaps your finances have been crippled. You may have been socially damaged by others and given names you do not deserve. Remember, however, that God, your King, is always there for you.

No matter how dark the night may be, the dawn approaches. You will meet the King and his word will destroy every force attempting to put you to shame. Learn to wait on the Lord in prayer and fasting. Commune with Him, no matter what others say about you or do to you. Learn to study the word of God and hear from Him (1 John 1:3).
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, defend me against every evil machination of men.
2. Lord, restore my glory.
