Text:
Hosea 1:1&2, 10; 3:1-5
Memory Verse:
“Then the Lord said to me, ‘Go again, love a woman who is loved by a lover and is committing adultery, just like the love of the Lord for the children of Israel, who look to other gods and love the raisin cakes of the pagans.’”(Hosea 3:1).
Hosea’s assignment was almost unbelievable! God instructed that he should act out the harlotry of Israel with his own life in a bid to win them back.
The love of God is such that He is always reaching out to His wayward children and creatures. Not wanting the death of a sinner or any to perish in their sin, He goes after them (2 Peter 3:9). He does this many times in innovative and picturesque ways. He revealed Himself to the fleeing Jacob in a dream. He spoke to Balaam through a donkey. He dramatically arrested Saul on his way to
Damascus. The Israelites, His first love, were a stiff-necked people, yet time and time
again He sought them. Even when He punished them, He always left a remnant, tempering justice with mercy. After God destroyed the then world with the flood in Noah’s days, He lovingly entered into a covenant with man, pledging never to destroy the earth again with water. The rainbow was His loving sign (Genesis 9:13-16). Each time David repented of his sins God took him back and even promised to forgive his children whenever they realised their errors.
Have you drifted from God? Have you sinned? Do you, like the prodigal son, realise your mistake and are willing to come back? God is loving and full of mercy. He is waiting to take you and every repentant child back (2 Chronicles 7:14). God is waiting to take you back. Share this message of hope with all.
Prayer Points:
1. Thank You Lord for always loving me.
2. I ask that You forgive my waywardness and restore me.
