Text: Matthew 28:1-8
Memory Verse: “And go quickly and tell his disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold I have told you” (Matthew 28:7).
The disciples of Jesus had been plunged into deep sorrow and fear after witnessing the brutal crucifixion of their Lord. They were terrified, uncertain, and heartbroken. But their sorrow did not last long, as it was soon overturned by the life-changing good news of Jesus’ resurrection. This miraculous event filled them with great joy and transformed their despair into an unstoppable hope.
One of the remarkable aspects of God’s nature is His ability to bring good news that completely turns the tables on our enemies and silences our problems. As the Psalmist declared, “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever” (Psalm 30:11&12). This is the nature of God: to turn sorrow into joy, to exchange our grief for gladness, and to bless us in ways that stun our enemies.
Examples of God’s good news transforming lives are Abraham and Sarah – news transforming their barrenness to fruitfulness (Genesis 18:9&10); the Israelites’ freedom from Egypt and captivity; and Mordecai – once a mere gateman, becoming a statesman by the king’s decree (Esther 6:10). Like He did for them, God has great news awaiting you. Whatever challenges you may be facing today, remember that God has the power to turn things around.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, thank You for the good news awaiting me.
2. Daddy, thank You for the good news Jesus brought to the world.
