Text: Philippians 2:5-11
Memory Verse: “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).
Having become a Christian, one is expected to subject his or her mind to the control of the Holy Spirit in thought and in action. The believer is expected to be like Christ in words and in deeds. Unfortunately, many Christians have their own mind, not willing to think, act or behave like Christ. They are not able or not willing to manifest the fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5: 22&23.
Note that the mind of Christ embodies humility, love, forgiveness, tolerance, patience, hardwork, focus, etc. He was so humble that He willingly submitted to death on the cross. He subjected Himself to human authority by obeying the law of the land and paid tax. Christ, the King, did not harbour ill feelings and, even prayed for His enemies.
What type of mind do you have as a believer? Do you still curse people instead of blessing them? Are you arrogant, selfish, haughty and bitter? Or are you disobedient to constituted authorities such as the human government and the Church? These vices were not found in Christ. He was accommodating and prayerful.
To maintain the mind of Christ, you must have a solid relationship with Him. Totally surrender to His Lordship and pray for the help of the Holy Spirit to enable you manifest His fruit. Knowing Him is the key to His mind. Every believer must have the mind of Christ so that the family and the world will be a better place for all.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, help me to have the mind of Christ.
2. Lord, grant me the grace to manifest the fruit of the Spirit always.
