Text: Isaiah 6:1-10
Memory Verse: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here amI! Send me’” (Isaiah 6:8).
Isaiah heard God make a call for a volunteer for His divine assignment and heeded the call by surrendering himself for the task. Although he was told Ithat there would be no favourable response, still he heeded God’s instructions.
Hearing God means being attentive to Him, responding to His call and obeying His instructions. There are many things that hinder us from hearing God or hearing from Him. These include distractions, busyness, sin, self-righteousness, pride, anger, and unbelief. To hear from God, you must delight in fellowship with Him, be united with
Him through faith, reading and listening to His word, praying and living godly. How much you hear God is proportional to the diligence you give to Bible study and the extent of your spiritual intelligence. You must believe that He wants to speak to you and position yourself close to Him.
Samuel stayed at the Holy place of the Tabernacle where the Golden lamp was kept. Separate yourself from the world. Be at your duty post and practice being in His presence – Zechariah heard God during his service in the sanctuary (Luke 1:8-13). Maintain silence and stillness while listening to God’s voice. When God calls, respond eagerly (1 Samuel 3:10). Consider carefully what you hear. When God speaks, listen carefully, be attentive to His instructions, and ensure you obey Him completely. Hearing and obeying God guides, protects, enriches you spiritually, and strengthens your faith.
Prayer Points:
1. O God, give me a listening ear to hear You clearly.
2. Lord, as You speak, grant me the grace to respond promptly.
