Text:
1 Samuel 16:14-23
Memory Verse:
“Then one of the servants answered and said, ‘Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, whois skillful in playing, a mighty man of valour, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the LORD is with him’” (1 Samuel 16:18).
Every word of prophecy from God is authentic, but not automatic. There is a place of training and planning to become all that God said about you (1 Timothy 4:6-10). You have a role to play in the fulfilment of God’s prophecy for your life. David did not know that one day he would be needed by
the king. He was already skilled before the opportunity for him to exhibit his skills came. To plan and train is to position yourself for when the need arises. If the governor of your State needs someone that will handle the budget of that State, do you have the skills? As important as the anointing is, so also are the skills needed to carry out the assignment. How prepared are you for the
prophecy of God over your destiny? When the need arises in the palace only those who are prepared will get there. Prayer alone will not do it for you, for faith without works is dead (James 2:17-
26). When a road needs to be constructed, human beings, not Angels, would be the ones to do it. Do not just wish to do something. Someone will need whatever skills you are acquiring now very soon. Training and planning will give you an edge over others.
There is no future for a lazy man. Get up and enrol for a training that is in line with the prophecy of God for your life. Think about the prophecy that has been said about you and begin to skillfully equip yourself in fulfilment of that purpose (2 Timothy 3:17).
Prayer Points:
1. I will succeed in life and ministry, by the grace of God.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me to play my part in the fulfilment of God’s prophecies in my life.
