Text:
Psalm 15:1-5
Memory Verse:
“LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?” (Psalm 15:1, KJV).
Who is there among us that has not gossiped, or broken a promise? We are told it is important to speak the truth in our hearts, not just in our speech or actions (John 4:24).Sin can sometimes be a
result of our inactions as well as our actions. We may not lend out money and expect to be repaid with an unfair interest, but what about taking a bribe against the innocent? A bribe does not have to be money or gifts; sometimes, it is the price one pays to be accepted by a group for not telling the truth!
We can not live blamelessly on our own. We need God’s help. Some of the greatest saints have been the greatest sinners. Peter and Paul thought they had it all together. Peter had confidence in himself that he could be brave, until Jesus was arrested and he gave in to his fear and betrayed his best friend (Matthew 26:33 & 34). Paul thought he knew what God wanted of him when
he went about condemning the followers of Jesus. Both needed help. Peter needed the forgiveness of Jesus to let him know that it was only with God’s help that he could face the trials and martyrdom that loomed ahead of him. Paul needed more than a gentle push to see that he was attacking God Himself.
When we ask for help to live as witnesses for Christ, we will receive it. As Jesus told us, by ourselves we can do nothing, but with God’s help all things are possible.
Prayer Points:
1. Good and gracious God, remind me that You are always there to help me to live as you want me to, so that I may dwell with You throughout eternity.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me to live as a witness for Christ.
