” I Hurt You. Please Forgive Me ” 2

Text:
Luke 15:11-20

Memory Verse:
“I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you’” (Luke 15:18).

Offence is usually seen as being against fellow humans, but the story of the prodigal or lost son teaches a new lesson. In coming to his senses, this young man realised that he had not only sinned against his father, but also against God. Sin against God results from disrespect for His expectations, provisions for reconciliation, outright disobedience to His demands and in many other ways. Adam and Eve were disobedient to God’s instructions. Thereafter, man continued to disobey and satisfy his will, ignoring God’s standards. Even when they were warned before Noah’s flood, they were unrepentant and only eight people were saved.
God is still hurting today because:
1. Many people have still not recognised and accepted the provision of salvation made at such a great price, the blood of Jesus (John 3:16&17).
2. Those who have understood the truth of the gospel are not living holy and right, but are bringing disrepute and shame to His name.
3. Many of His children have not taken the mandate to go and make disciples of all nations seriously, even though the clock is ticking slowly, but surely, towards the end of time (Romans 10:13&14).
4. The Church has become complacent and ineffective in helping people stand in Christ (James 5:19&20).
5. He does not desire the death of a sinner, yet there is nothing more He can do to prevent people who do not accept Him from going to hell. If God is hurting, then it is time for you to examine yourself and see if you need to ask Him for forgiveness.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I realise that I have not done enough in preaching the gospel. Please forgive me.
2. I pray that my life will be more pleasing to You.
