Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Memory Verse: “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).
One of the greatest teachings and the hallmark of our Christian faith is Love. The Bible tells us that God is Love. This is an attribute of God that makes Him to be God. Our Lord Jesus demonstrated love throughout His earthly physical presence and, ultimately, gave His life for mankind. He emphasised on the need for us, as His followers, to show love to one another. Love is an action word and God demonstrated this by giving His only begotten son as propitiation for our sins (John 3:16).
Jesus equally challenged us to love one another. Such love is a proof to God and the world that we are His disciples (John 13:35). We cannot but show love among ourselves and even to the unbelievers around us, whether in our family, offices, business places, schools, neighbourhood and, generally, to this dying world.
1 Corinthians 13:13 emphasises that love is greater than faith and hope. Love is what made Christ to be revealed. God demonstrated love whilst revealing His only Son to come and die a shameful and painful death. Love is the nature of God that we all must exhibit, not occasionally but always. Beloved, someone is crying for love and needs to be shown true and pure love, which the Bible calls true religion (James 1:27, Matthew 25:34-36). Receive a heart of love today and let Christ be revealed in and through you.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, give me a heart filled with pure love.
2. Every seed of hatred planted in me, be uprooted today.
