Maximising The Waiting Season

Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Memory Verse: “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

Waiting seasons can be likened to the experience of pregnancy, a time of anticipation, transformation and uncertainty. To believers, it is the period between prophecy from God and its manifestation. The question is not whether or not these seasons would come since there is no escaping it but rather, how do we maximise them?

The Apostles were instructed to wait for the promised Holy Spirit. The period from that instruction through to their eventual in-filling was a season of waiting. And like with every pregnancy, successful delivery depends largely on what the pregnancy is exposed to. The Apostles did not just go about with their normal lives, carrying on a mental state of expectation alone; this would have been passively waiting. Instead, they engaged in activities that they had learned from Jesus (Acts 1:4-14). This is Active Waiting.

Waiting is maximised when we do it actively. Passive waiting would be tiring since one does not know when the fulfillment would be. The following will help a Christian maximise waiting seasons:
1. Facilitating unity, respect and wholeness in the church.
2. Praying.
3. Studying the Bible.
4. Meditating on God’s faithfulness.
5 Counting our blessings.
6. Employing the weapon of praise.
7. Speaking and acting like the promised future is already here.

The waiting season is an opportunity to build inner strength and grow in the fruit of the Spirit, forging you into pure gold (refined in fire) or clay molded into a fine vessel. Be intentional about every waiting season.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, grant me Your grace to actively wait in every season in which Your promises are yet to be fulfilled in my life.
2. Father, please help me to never mistake my waiting seasons for abandonment by You.
