Text: Proverbs 31:10-31
Memory verse: “She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands. She is like the merchant’s ships; she brings her food from afar” (Proverbs 31: 13-14).
It is intriguing to see machines performing complex functions in the production processes. The operator only needs to press the right button Iand the job is done. Mothers are like machines playing many roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, business and career woman. According to Proverbs 31:1-31, a virtuous woman works for the benefit of her family. At the home front, she takes control, guiding, guarding, teaching, directing, instructing, correcting and rebuking when necessary. In many homes, it is the woman that is in charge; the husband is the figure head.
The present economic situation in the land has adversely affected the home such that many men have lost their means of income. This has further brought more pressure on the woman who, in spite of all the odds, attends to her work – either a personal business or a white-collar job – and strives to put food on the table at the end of day. They also perform spiritual roles in the family. Without the prayers of our mothers, many homes would have been wrecked spiritually.
Dear mother, please keep doing the work of God wherever He has placed you. Apply wisdom in your acts because, according to Proverbs 14:1, “every wise woman builds her house: but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.” The
Lord will reward you and your labour will not be in vain.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please continue to uphold our mothers in all their endeavours.
2. Father, continue to protect our women from harm and danger and may they fulfil your plans and purpose for their lives.
