Text: Joshua 2:1-11
Memory Verse: “And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath” (Joshua 2:11).
After the death of Moses, Joshua sent two spies to Jericho. They came to the house of Rahab, a harlot, and lodged there. When the King of Jericho learned of the spies’ presence, he sought to arrest them, but Rahab risked her life by hiding them because of her belief in the God of Israel.
Though Rahab was a sinner, she recognised the power of God and chose to align herself with Him. Despite her past, God did not turn her away. Instead, He accepted her because of her faith in Him. This same God loves and cares for you, in spite of your sins (Ephesians 2:4). He is ready to embrace you, if you turn to Him.
Rahab’s faith in God saved her and her family from destruction. Though she was not perfect, her trust in God brought her salvation. James 2:25 and Hebrews 11:31 both speak of her faith and its impact. God is waiting for you to put your faith in Him, like Rahab. He wants to save you and forgive your sins.
Let her story inspire you to make the bold decision to put your faith in God, knowing that He can turn even the most broken lives into testimonies of His grace and power. Rahab became a part of God’s plan and was saved from destruction. You too can find redemption and a place in His Kingdom. Turn to Him today, and He will give you a new beginning.
