Text: Exodus 14:1-10
Memory Verse: “Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honour over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD” (Exodus 14:4).
In Exodus, God told Moses to tell Pharaoh, “Let My people go.” But God knew that Pharaoh would refuse, so He caused him to harden his heart, so He could gain great glory at his expense. God set up the odds against the Israelites, so He could show His favour and gain honour over Pharaoh. In a similar way, you may not like it that some people and circumstances have come against you; it might not be fair, but it is ordained by God; not to stop or defeat you, but for God to gain honour in your life.
When Moses attempted helping his people and it boomeranged, he ran away for forty years, but that setback became a setup for him to be mightily used to deliver the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage. Likewise, Joseph’s setback turned into a setup for his dreams to be actualised and to preserve life. “… I am Joseph your brother, …But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life” (Genesis 45:4&5).
Quit complaining and asking, “Why am I facing these odds?” If you stay in faith, it is just a matter of time before God turns around those obstacles and uses them to push you forward.
When it feels like the odds are against you, do not fall apart. It is a setup. God is about to do something that people cannot deny.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, thank You that You are going to use the obstacles in my life to show me Your favour and bring glory to Your name.
2. Thank You Father, because You are setting me up to show your glory in my life, and others are going to know that You are on my side.
