Texts: Matthew 14:22-33

Memory Verse: “Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea” (Matthew 14:25).

Many people, like Peter, Gideon and Samson’s parents have a hard time trusting God, for this reason they seek signs to reassure them (Judges 6 & 13). Others, like King Herod, want to see Jesus, not for who He is, but for what He can do for them (Luke 23:8).
We should have the right and positive mindset towards signs and wonders. Miraculous signs should draw our attention to God and cause us to know or want to know more about God. Moses turned aside to look at the great scene and wanted to know more. It was then that God spoke to him and gave him the assignment which was the divine purpose for his life (Exodus 3:4,10).

Give God the necessary attention and respond positively to Him. Obey His word. Be spiritually sensitive. Exercise faith and determine to obtain your own miracle from God. Avoid distraction. Blind Bartimaeus and the woman with the issue of blood did not allow the crowd to deprive their healing.
While we thank God for signs and wonders, we do not need to seek them, but to seek Jesus. Today, many people attend crusades, outreaches and Holy Ghost nights simply to witness miraculous signs and wonders, not necessarily for the salvation of their souls. The truth is that Christ’s ministrations are not for the exhibition of signs and wonders or entertainment, but for the salvation of souls,
abundant life and eternal life (John 6:27).

Prayer Points:
1. Lord Jesus, as I draw close to You, let me experience Your miracle.
2. Help me, Holy Spirit, to focus more on Jesus than on signs and wonders.
