Text: Psalm 29:1-11
Memory Verse: “Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones, Give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 29:1&2).
Consider a traveler who, after surveying a mountain from afar, walked around it, and observing how it dominates the landscape, now approaches it directly with the intent of climbing. In the same way, draw closer to study the qualities that set God apart from man, His
Almightiness, Omniscience, and Omnipresence. God is truly powerful. His power sustains the world and suspends the earth on
nothing. When constructing buildings, humans require pillars for support, yet the heavens and the earth remain upheld without visible pillars. The stars, moon, and sun have not crashed into the earth because God, in His wisdom, set boundaries unseen by human eyes.
We also see God’s Omniscience in Jesus. He did not place confidence in the people’s outward enthusiasm because He knew their inner motive (John 2:24). He revealed intimate details about the Samaritan woman (John 4), delayed going to Jairus’ house knowing his daughter was near death, and waited four days before raising Lazarus, fully aware of his condition. At the pool of Bethesda, Jesus already knew the man’s condition, yet asked, “…Do you want to be made whole?” (John 5:6).
These examples show God desires you to know Him personally and choose Him willingly. Though He knows all things, He still invites you into a relationship. Your freedom of choice is a gift. God seeks hearts that pursue Him, not out of compulsion, but love. Therefore, draw near with reverence and a desire to know Him intimately.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, grant me the grace to trust fully in Your power.
2. Help me, Lord, to be mindful of the way I use my freedom.
