Text: Jeremiah 29: 4-13
Memory Verse: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Is the end of a year approaches and a new one begins, many of us naturally start making plans. We reflect on the past, set new goals, and write down the things we hope to achieve in the year ahead. While this is a common and often productive practice, an important question
remains: how many of us take time to involve God in our planning? Do we pause to seek His direction and ask for His purpose concerning our lives?
A.W. Tozer once wrote, “Every new year is an uncharted and unknown sea. No ship has ever sailed this year before…” His words remind us that the future is unknown. Although experience might give us an idea of what to expect, we cannot see the full journey ahead, only God can. Hidden challenges may arise, and unexpected storms may come our way. That is why it is vital to begin the year by seeking God’s guidance.
Jeremiah 29:11&12, NIV says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord… ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me… and I will listen to you.’” Since you have not travelled this path before, it is unwise to rely solely on your own abilities. Instead, ask God to show you His plan for your life this year.
When God leads, you can walk in confidence, peace, and purpose. Let the new year begin with Him.
