Text: Revelation 2:1-7
Memory Verse:“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and
do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your
lampstand from its place – unless you repent” (Revelation 2:5).\
When a father warns his daughter not to play in a puddle, if she Wwants to be carried when he returns, and she disobeys, he may lovingly hold back – not out of anger, but to teach a lesson. Many Christians behave like the disobedient daughter with God, damaging their fellowship through disobedience, even though His love remains.
As God led Israel from Egypt, He gave them clear instructions, with holiness at the heart of their relationship with Him (Leviticus 11:45). In Revelation chapters 2 and 3, He commended churches for their faithfulness yet still exposed their faults. These were not minor flaws; they were potential dealbreakers in their relationship with Him. Holiness is not a destination, but a daily journey. It calls for a sincere heart and a life shaped by God’s Word. Outward religious habits or partial obedience will not do. True salvation comes only through full surrender to Jesus, and every act of disobedience counts as sin (1 John 5:17). God’s standards do not change, He is consistent and holy.
Just as He demanded holiness from Israel and the early churches, God makes the same demand today. He has not changed, His standards remain the same (Hebrews 12:14). The call to holiness is not one of burden but of blessing. The Holy Spirit is available and willing to help you walk in obedience, if you will allow Him. Are you ready to please Him?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please forgive me in every way I have been disobedient.
2. Help me to maintain holiness unto You henceforth, O Lord.
