Psalm 92:12-15

Memory Verse:
“They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing” (Psalm 92:14).

How do you identify an evergreen tree? By examining them in drought or winter. They appear to grow slowly but, over time, some evergreen trees reach the height of 20-60 feet while some dwarf
varieties reach the height of 4-6 feet. Christianity can be compared to the evergreen tree. It has remained fresh and popular over the years, Jesus Christ being at the centre. Every other religious
leader is dead and buried. The “winter” kept Jesus in the grave for just three days. Like the evergreen tree, He walked out of the grave at the end of the three days and is alive forevermore (John 21:17). The Bible also remains evergreen and indestructible.
On 25 February 1758,Voltaire, the French philosopher, wrote to a friend, “in 20 years God will be forgotten.” However, 20 years later Voltaire was very sick, vomiting blood, he fell into convulsions, tore at his flesh, eating his excreta until he died, yet, Christianity continues to wax stronger. The message of salvation has remained evergreen and relevant to the needs of humanity. If you are a believer in Christ, you remain evergreen because Christ is evergreen. Do not say to yourself that because age is catching up on you, you are not green anymore. Remember that the brown branches provide the enabling environment for the green leaves to come out. Retain your ‘greenness’. Raise up like minded disciples, who will raise up future leaders (2 Timothy 2:2).

Prayer Points:
1. Help me to retain my greenness, O Lord.
2. Let me be able to influence a generation of leaders, who will be able to raise more leaders.
