Text: Psalm 121:1-8
Memory Verse: “The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore” (Psalm 121:7 & 8).
Psalm 121 is a renowned and frequently cited one, known as one of the Psalms of Ascents or Song of Ascents. This sacred song was sung by
Hebrew pilgrims as they journeyed to Jerusalem, expressing their trust Pin God’s guidance and protection. Although written centuries ago, this Psalm remains relevant today, as we are all pilgrims navigating the journey of life.
The concept of preservation is beautifully illustrated in it. To preserve means to keep safe from danger, harm, injury, or destruction. It involves protecting from decay or dissolution, keeping alive and intact. When the Lord preserves you, He safeguards you from all forms of danger, harm, or destruction. He prevents decay and keeps you alive and intact. The word “preserve” is repeated three times in Psalm 21:7&8 for emphasis, underscoring the certainty of God’s promise.
The preservation promised by God can be seen in four dimensions: preserving you from all evil, preserving your soul, preserving your going out and coming in, and preserving you forevermore. As a child of God, you have no reason to fear, for this is the everlasting covenant of God for your life. Even in these challenging times, God’s promise remains unwavering. Stand on the word of God, declaring it daily over your life, home, and family. As you believe and proclaim God’s promise, you will witness its manifestations in your life. So, declare with confidence that the Lord will preserve you.
Prayer Points:
1. Thank You, Father, for You will preserve me and my household.
2. O Lord, preserve my soul from all evil.
