Text: Matthew 13: 24-30, 2 Samuel 11: 1- 4
Memory Verse: “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among
the wheat, and went his way” (Matthew 13:25).
An unguarded hour is the hour that one is not protected. A time when something is done carelessly or a time when one is not thinking about the effect of one’s action or not paying attention. It is one’s most vulnerable time; the period of testing of one’s weaknesses. David was described as a man after God’s heart. He sang songs of victory, but tragedy struck, and he fell.
Your unguarded hour is that hour, when you abandon God’s purpose for your life and focus on your own desires, just like David did by staying at home when he was supposed to be at war. Then temptation came, and he fell. In
contending with certain sins, there remains no other mode of victory, but by flight because he who will be saved from an act of evil, must hasten away from the occasion of it (2 Timothy 2:22).
Some of the things that cause these sins are tiredness, pleasure, and idleness. In times of pleasure, you need to be careful. There are duties which are expected of you, concerning your ministry, family and business. When you give in to slothfulness, complacency and weariness, you endanger your life and those you watch over. What is that sin that catches you off guard? Consciously do these:
1. Stay close to the scriptures.
2. Stay away from unprofitable friendly friends.
3. Stay alert to the tactics of the enemy.
4. Be prayerful and never give in, stand your ground, and you will definitely see good results.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, I confess my sins, wash me with Your precious blood.
2. Keep me alert, O God, and help me to do what I ought to do at the right time.
