Text: Matthew 6:5-14
Memory Verse: “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

Aldous Huxley, once a critic of orthodox and evangelical Christianity, was quoted as saying, “’My kingdom go’ is the necessary corollary to ‘Thy kingdom come’.” Indeed, a kingdom is a king’s domain. As long as a man remains the king over his own life, God cannot reign there. A. W. Tozer echoed this truth when he said, “Certainly His kingdom can never be realized in my life until my own selfish kingdom is deposed. It is when I resign, when I am no longer king of my domain, that Jesus Christ will become King of my life.”

This was the revelation Apostle Paul had when he declared, “That I may know Him and the fellowship of His sufferings…” (Philippians 3:10) and also, “I am crucified with Christ…” (Galatians 2:20). Unless the “I” in you comes to know Jesus, shares in His suffering, and dies to self, your ego will continue to rule and God’s kingdom cannot be established in you. Where “I” reigns, pride, selfishness, and self-centeredness flourish. These are traits that drove Lucifer out of heaven. His refusal to submit the “I” in him caused his fall.

As a believer who often prays “Thy kingdom come,” ask yourself whether your kingdom truly is gone and ready to give room to His? Cry out to God today: “Lord, I quit, I resign. I am no longer king of my domain. I die to my kingdom of pride and prestige. Rule in my life today.” Let go and let His kingdom come.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, let me know You more and more..
2. Father, let me henceforth enjoy the benefits of Your kingdom.
