1 Peter 3:3-7, 11-15
Memory Verse:
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be
ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in
you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15).
Not everything that glitters is gold. Beauty is defined as something that is good looking, attractive and pleasing to the eye. But true beauty cannot be measured in the plaiting of nice hairstyles or
attractive clothes. True beauty is more of an inward quality rather than outward appearance. It is the state of the heart. Our God looks at the state of your heart and not your outward appearance. For the true beauty of God to show forth in your life, some qualities must manifest. The first is the state of your heart. By their fruit we shall know them (Matthew 7:15&16). The Bible describes the heart as an incorruptible ornament, whose qualities are of great price before our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:4). Some qualities of true beauty are meekness, quietness and gentleness. They are
attributes of our Lord Jesus Christ which every Christian should emulate.
Humility and modesty are also qualities of true beauty. Excess of anything is bad. Therefore, you should learn to be moderate in everything you do. Submission to your husband, love for your wife, respect for your parents and leaders are other qualities of true beauty. How submissive are you to your spiritual leaders? Be a man of your word. Let your no be no and your yes, yes. Anything more than this is of the devil (Matthew 5:37). The level of your sanctification will determine the level of the beauty of God that can be seen in your life as a Christian.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, remodel me and let my life and character demonstrate Your beauty.
2. Lord, purify Your church and let the true beauty of God be seen in her.
