Text: John 4:19-26
Memory Verse: “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him” (John 4:23).
True worship is not about a place, a song, or a feeling; it is about the heart. It goes beyond the melody of our lips to the posture of our soul. It is not just what we say or do in church; it is how we live in response to who God is.
In a world filled with outward expressions and superficial praise, God looks deeper. He seeks hearts that are fully surrendered, humble, and longing for intimacy with Him. Psalm 51:17 reminds us, “The sacrifices of God are a
broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.” True worship flows from such a heart; one that recognises God’s holiness and our dependence on His grace.
When we worship in truth, we acknowledge God for who He really is, not who we imagine Him to be. And when we worship in spirit, we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us beyond routine, into a living, breathing connection with our
Creator. This kind of worship changes us. It re-centres our priorities, aligns us with God’s will, and fills us with peace that transcends our circumstances (Romans 12:1&2).
True worship is not confined to our Sunday mornings. It is expressed in our obedience, and keeping His commandments, in our daily choices, our service to others, and our reverence for God’s Word (John 14:15). It is a lifestyle of love for the One who first loved us.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to worship You in spirit and in truth. Purify my heart and align my life with Your will.
2. Father, teach me to live a life of worship, not just with words, but through obedience, reverence, and love each day.
