Text: Job 27:1-6
Memory Verse: “My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go; my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live” (Job 27:6).
Job faced severe calamities, but his troubles were not due to sin, as God Himself testified to his righteousness (Job 1:8). Despite his overwhelming challenges, Job refused to compromise his faith and righteousness. In the end, God restored his life, making it even better than before the trials came upon him. This shows that righteousness draws us closer to God. On the contrary, unrighteousness denies us a place in eternity with God, regardless of our earthly exploits (Matthew 7:22&23).
You can also learn from Enoch who walked with God, escaped death and was translated to heaven (Genesis 5:24). Joseph, refused to compromise when faced with sexual immorality in Potiphar’s house. His commitment to righteousness led God to honour him and make him a ruler in Egypt. Mary remained uncompromisingly righteous by maintaining her purity in a corrupt generation, which led to her becoming the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The first step towards uncompromising righteousness is surrendering your life to Jesus. The Bible says that, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away and all things have become new. God has made Christ who knew no sin to be sin for you, so that you might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
You must then remain in Him. Studying the Word of God and obeying His
commandments helps you to remain steadfast in righteousness.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, please deal with every form of unrighteousness in me.
2. Holy Spirit, please teach me to walk with Jesus.
