Text: Esther 8:1-6

Memory Verse: “Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman the Agagite, and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews” (Esther 8:3).

Welcome Jide, you have come just in time to join us for dinner.” Robert said lovingly. “Thank you, Sir,” Jide accepted the invitation and sat down at the table. The meal looked sumptuous, he thought, as he reached for the bowl of chicken! They had barely taken three bites when Philip, another acquaintance, was ushered into the house. He
seemed to be in a hurry and turned down the invitation to join the family at the table. He needed to borrow Robert’s truck urgently. “Of course you can have it till Sunday evening” Robert said, without hearing Jide’s protest that he had
actually come to make the same request! He had sat down to eat without stating his main mission! Esther had won the King’s heart and had gotten a small victory over the wicked Haman, but that was not the main goal. She needed the King to overturn the decree authorising the killing, annihilation and plundering of her people on the  13 day of the 12 month, Adar. This unfinished business needed to be completed before she could take her rest.

Queen Bathsheba also had unfinished business to attend to in 1 Kings 1. King David was old and Prince Adonijah was already positioning himself to be king contrary to the King’s promise that her son, Solomon, would be king after him.
She needed to move fast. Do you have any unfinished business? Do not be distracted by the little wins and leave the main goal unfulfilled.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord please prompt me not to leave my goals unfinished.
2. I refuse to be distracted by little victories till I reach my goal.
