Do Not Journey From The Father

Text: Luke 15:11-20

Memory Verse: “And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living” (Luke 15:13).

To journey from a person is to disengage yourself or disassociate yourself from the person. When you disassociate yourself from a person, there will be no more relationship and interaction between you and that person.
The prodigal son was bold enough to go to his father. He had access to the father and used the access to the father to get what he wanted, which in itself was not wrong. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7, ask, you will receive, seek, you will find, knock, it will be opened unto you. The younger son asked and it was given to him. Are you, as a child of God, always bold enough to go to your heavenly father to ask from Him?

What the prodigal son did wrong was that when he asked the father and got what he wanted, he then journeyed away from his father to a faraway country. He lost contact with the father by disassociating himself from him and, then, spent all that he had. Famine came and he began to be in need. He was in need at the time of famine because he no longer had a relationship with his father. If he had not left his father, he would not have experienced famine and would not
have lost his inheritance. To remain successful in life, you must not journey away from your heavenly father. Do not disassociate yourself from Him. Take your relationship with Him seriously and you will not be in want.

Prayer Points:
1. O Lord, I will not journey away from You.
2. Give me grace to remain with You, dear Lord.
