Text: Isaiah 55:8-11
Memory Verse: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD (Isaiah 55:8).
It is commonly said that the voice of the people is the voice of God. However, nothing could be further from the truth in many situations. God’s ways and thoughts are not only different, they are infinitely higher than ours. The natural man and God do not speak the same language. In fact,
they walk on two parallel paths that never meet, unless there is a transformation of the heart through Christ.
The natural man is driven by instincts, emotions, and cultural norms, but God speaks from eternal truth, righteousness, and divine wisdom. For instance, John 12:25 says, “He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” The natural man declares, “It is my life, I’ll enjoy it to the fullest!” But Jesus teaches self-denial and sacrificial living.
Again, Romans 12:19 tells us, “…Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord” while the natural man says, “Sweet revenge is best served cold.” In Luke 6:27, Jesus commands, “…Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.” The natural man insists on “a tooth for a tooth.”
Clearly, the voice of the people is often not the voice of God. As believers, we must unlearn the ways of the world and embrace God’s kingdom principles, even when they seem upside down. Only then can we truly walk in His will and reflect His nature.
Prayer Points:
1. Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see things God’s way.
2. Father, please let me know Your ways like Moses did.
