Text: Ezekiel 33:1-7
Memory Verse: “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me” (Ezekiel 33:7).
Who can pray? Anyone. But to move the hand of God through prayer, one must live a life wholly devoted to God. Effective prayer flows from a life that seeks to know God deeply, walk closely with Him, and commune regularly in humility and surrender. Prayer is not a service to man; it is a sacred offering to God. There is no substitute for bowing the head, humbling the heart, and dying to self. Consider Elijah praying for rain after a long drought; it was not a casual act, but one marked by persistence and deep surrender (1 Kings 18:42-44).
The school of prayer is the school of servanthood. God’s true servants must be willing to live under authority and serve faithfully. Moses learned this in Midian, tending Jethro’s flock. Any increase went to Jethro; any loss, Moses
bore the blame. Jacob had a similar experience with Laban. This is the heart of a servant. If you are not serving at home, in church, or among brethren, you cannot pray prayers that shift heaven and earth. God entrusts the keys of David to humble, faithful intercessors (Revelation 3:7).
Joshua, though gifted, stayed in Moses’ shadow without ambition. His humility and obedience qualified him as Moses’ successor. In contrast, Gehazi failed to inherit Elisha’s mantle due to greed. Prayer powered by pride or fleshly effort accomplishes nothing (Mark 10:42-44). Guard God’s honour. Stay humble. True prayer flows from a surrendered heart; one that seeks only the will and glory of God.
Prayer Points:
1. O Lord, help me to humble myself so I can pray without ceasing.
2. Let my ears be open to hear You always.
