Text: Isaiah 45:1-5, 10
Memory Verse: “Thus says the Lord to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—to subdue nations before him And lose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut” (Isaiah 45:1).
God is a God of purpose. Everything He does is intentional and directed toward fulfilling His divine will. He created all things, including the devil, for His own glory (Proverbs 16:4). He also positioned King Cyrus of Persia, a heathen king whom He intentionally raised up to fulfill a specific divine assignment. Though Cyrus did not know God personally, he was used as an instrument to bring deliverance to the Israelite from Babylonian captivity, which God had allowed as a punishment for their idolatry. Cyrus was raised to set the Israelite’s free from captivity, at no cost; provide resources to rebuild Jerusalem, again, at no cost; and execute judgement against Babylon. Amazingly, all the see came to pass , just as prophesied (2 Chronicles 36:22&23; Ezra 1:1-4). This reminds us that God can use anyone, even a pagan king, to accomplish His purpose. The question is, ‘What were you raised to do for God?’
Do you know your divine assignment? Have you discovered the purpose behind the resources, talents, and opportunities God has entrusted to you? A tree bears fruit not for itself, but for others. In the same way, your gifts and blessings are not just for personal enjoyment, but for God’s glory.
Let today’s devotional stir you to reflect deeply on the question, “Am I fulfilling the divine purpose for which I was created?” If you realise that you are not, seek clarity, and realign yourself, accordingly.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, reveal to me Your purpose for raising me.
2. Lord, give me grace to apply myself to being Your delight.
