Psalm 145: 1-3;15&16
Memory Verse: “You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing” (Psalm 145:16).
Psalm 145 is an awesome psalm of praise and acknowledgment of God’s greatness and goodness to all. It is a bit difficult to recognise how many living things we have in the world.
A living thing is defined in Biology as any organism or a life form that possesses or shows the characteristics of being alive. The fundamental characteristics that show this are: having an organised structure, requiring energy, responding to stimuli and adapting to environmental changes, and being capable of reproduction, growth, movement, metabolism, and death. According to Wikipedia there are more than 1.5 million different kinds of living organisms on earth ranging from small and simple bacteria to large, complex mammals like man.
Bearing in mind these facts about the world’s population, have you ever stopped to consider how they are provided for? Who feeds them all? Who takes care of the simple bacteria? In one sense, we have the animal kingdom which relies on the plant kingdom for food and oxygen while the plants rely on animals for carbon dioxide. But who ordered and planned it all so intricately?
God, in Job38-41,challenges Job’s knowledge of His might. How much of His power and might do you know?
Psalm 145:15&16 alsotells us that the eyes of all look expectantly to God and they are not disappointed because He opens His hand and satisfies their needs. Our God, who keeps the world going, can take care of you, if you depend on Him (Matthew 6:25-27). Do you look to Him expectantly?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, in humility, I acknowledge Your unfathomable power and might.
2. Lord, I renew my confidence and trust in Your power to meet all my needs.
