Text:
Micah 5:2-5
Memory Verse:
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting” (Micah 5:2).
There are many stories of people, places and things that were considered little but, eventually, became big in the scheme of things. Bethlehem Ephrathah’s story is one of them. Translated fruitful, this small town became big when it housed eminent Bible personalities. It was the birthplace of David and where he was anointed by Prophet Samuel. The story of David
himself is of one who was overlooked as little and insignificant by his own father, but became big and great in God’s hands (1 Samuel 16:11&12). Bethlehem was where Joseph and Mary retired to for the census and where the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ, was born. A little place that became big because the Almighty breathed on it and made it so. The widow’s little jar of oil that produced many vessels of oil, enough to pay her debts and live by is another little that became big. A little given over to God totally, always becomes much. Having been fearfully and wonderfully made, God can fill and use ‘little’ you for His purpose (Psalm 139:14). He specialises in taking yielded empty vessels and making big things out of them. He has great plans for your life, if you let Him.
Are you a vessel available for the Master’s use? An unyielded vessel is not good enough for the work of the Master. So, you need to be totally yielded and available. There is greatness in you that God can bring forth.
Prayer Points:
1. Fill me for Your use, O God; I am available.
2. Let my greatness break forth for Your glory, Lord.
