Text: Romans 8:12-17
Memory Verse: “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:16&17a)

David Ingle’s song echoes the truth found in 2 Corinthians 5:17:

“I’m a new creation, I’m a brand new man,
Old things have passed away, I am born again,
More than a conqueror, that’s who I am,
I’m a new creation, I’m a brand new man.”

At the moment of salvation, your spirit experiences the redemptive power of the cross. Through faith, you appropriate Christ’s death and resurrection and begin to walk in the newness of life, as He did. The primary implication of this transformation is that your spirit becomes immortal. The Holy Spirit indwells you, awakening your consciousness to your new identity and the inheritance you receive as a child of God and joint-heir with Christ. This means you are no longer subject to spiritual death, but now possess ZOE, God’s own kind of life.

Being crucified with Christ also signifies that you bear in your body the mark of the cross, symbolising your death to sin and self. This mark serves as the seal of your access to the Father. Whenever you approach His throne, He sees you through the  lens of Christ’s finished work.

Because of this, you can now approach God with boldness and confidence (Hebrews 4:16), knowing that you are no longer a slave, but a beloved child. This new identity should make you live victoriously, reflecting God’s righteousness.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, thank You for the privilege to partake of the same Spirit with You.
2. Lord, grant me the grace not to grieve the Holy Spirit.
