Text: Judges 16:15-19

Memory Verse: “And it came to pass, when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed him, so that his soul was vexed to death” (Judges 16:16).

It was just a small mistake” David must have thought. “How I wish I could turn back the hand of the clock. I should not have been walking on the Irooftop, knowing that it overlooks their small bathroom. In fact, I should
not have stayed back home when the army was going to war. See how much this small gap has cost me, the Uriah’s and the entire nation” (2 Samuel 12:7-14)!

Samson, like David, must have thought he could handle anything and so toyed with fire, Delilah, a heathen who had nothing to lose. He left a small gap, a spark that eventually consumed him. The strange woman he should not have
fraternised with, plotted his downfall (Judges 16). Are you exposed? Have you left what you consider to be a small
“inconsequential” gap in your life that the devil can exploit? An occasional visit to a place you should not go, hanging out once in a while with an old ungodly friend, reading unhelpful literature or an unhealthy relationship with the opposite sex will get you into more trouble than you ever thought was possible.

You will end up entangled in a web that will destroy you, your testimony and all you have worked for. Samson ended a brilliant career shamefully. Run from sinful habits and do not leave gaps that the devil can exploit. He goes
around like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Read and live by God’s word. Choose godly friends. Leave no gap.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, may I not give room to ‘small gaps’ that the devil can exploit.
2. Lord, help me as I learn self-discipline.
