Are You Still Plugged In?

Text:
Judges 16:16-20

Memory Verse:
“And she said, ‘The Philistines are upon you, Samson!’ So he awoke from his sleep, and said, ‘I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!’ But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him” (Judges 16:20).

Kim was ironing his shirt, but all his efforts to smoothen the rumples were to no avail. Suddenly, he realised that the plug of the iron had been disconnected from the socket, its source of power and so had gone cold. The cold iron had lost its power and so could not smoothen his shirt! Samson was a special child with a special mission and this was announced to his parents before he was conceived. No razor was to touch his head and he was endowed with the Spirit of God to equip him for service (Judges 13:3&4,24&25). Perhaps Samson did not quite understand his calling, the source of his power and the implications of being disconnected from God. He was ridiculed and powerless. King Saul had been unplugged and knew that the power of God had left him. God was with David and so he was afraid of him (1 Samuel 16:14;18:12).
Like Samson, you carry the Spirit and power of God, if indeed you are His child. It is the presence of God through the Holy Spirit that empowers you to do exploits. Make no mistake about it. That power continues to be manifest as long as you are connected to God in righteousness. You become powerless once you get disconnected as a result of sin.
Are you still plugged into your source? Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Make the Spirit of God welcome by keeping your body holy and remaining plugged in.

Prayer Points:
1. God, please help me to stay connected to You.
2. I will not drive your Spirit away by living in sin.
