Text:
Ephesians 3:14-21
Memory Verse:
“And to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19).
Recently, I have been studying the different prayers in the Epistles and I am especially drawn to the contents of these prayers compared to what we pray for and about today. The prayers recorded in Ephesians 1:7-19 are predominantly focused on the Kingdom of God. Is God looking at the contents of our prayer? Yes, He is. The focus of the early Christians was their relationship with God and how they could know Him more. Jesus, in Matthew 6:9, gave us a pattern on how to pray. Our daily bread and deliverance were mentioned in only one sentence, while all other requests focused on God and His Kingdom and not ourselves. Jesus says “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The early disciples realised that anything that did not have its basis and
connection with the Kingdom of God, the establishment and fulfilment of His purpose on earth, did not interest God.
You must, therefore, examine your life, focus and pursuit in life. Do they have a bearing or connection with God’s purpose? Are you Kingdom minded? When you pray, do you spend the time just asking for “things” or building a relationship with God? “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). It will be to your advantage as a Christian if you lay your treasures in heaven.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, build Kingdom consciousness in me.
2. Father, fill me with the knowledge of Your will.
