Romans 4:23- 5:2, 10&11
Memory Verse:
“And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Romans 5:11).
Rejoice is from the root word joy and is a deep seated gladness. We usually rejoice when things go our way or as expected and many times when we get unexpected breaks and breakthroughs. Hannah rejoiced in this way when she had Samuel (1 Samuel 2:1).
Beyond this, however, you must rejoice in the knowledge of the finished work of Calvary. Your joy in this regard is in appreciation of what Jesus did for you knowing that you could not help yourself. You are commanded to rejoice because you have been justified by Christ’s death in your stead. Your boast is in what He did rather than what you achieved through your efforts for, indeed,
your justification is a gift (Romans 4:25).
You must give God the glory for the new life you have and now enjoy in Him. Isaiah 61:10 says, “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,….” Indeed, through Christ, you have been clothed and decorated with undeserved righteousness. As you give God the
glory, humbling yourself, the Lord is exalted and you with Him. You also experience His peace.
Your rejoicing is unending because, not only are you saved in this life, your tomorrow has also been taken care of by Jesus’ death reconciling you with God the Father. Knowing all these benefits that flow from Jesus’ death and resurrection in your stead, need we say rejoice?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I greatly rejoice in Your sacrifice and the resulting salvation.
2. I rejoice that my tomorrow is taken care of as my name is in Your book of life.
