Romans 12:9-18
Memory Verse:
“Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion”(Romans 12:16).
Jesus said “You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” If you are light, indeed, then you cannot hide anywhere you go. What makes you the light of the world is the Spirit of God that dwells in you(Matthew 5:14). Many years ago, a young man walked up to me in my place of work with a question that made me sad because it revealed something important to me. It showed that I needed to do more than I was doing then. He asked, “Sir, are you a Christian or a Muslim?” I was sad because I thought everyone in that organisation knew I was a Christian since I was convinced I was behaving like one, but I was wrong.
As the Spirit of God that dwells in you enables you to behave like a Christian, your love towards others must be without hypocrisy. To enable you to behave effectively as a Christian, you must be kind to people around you; brotherly love among believers must be real (John 13:35). Cultivate the habit of sharing your faith, live peaceably with all men, leave vengeance to God and do not
allow evil to overcome you, rather overcome evil with good. You must be known for something good as a Christian wherever you find yourself. Light and darkness cannot dwell together. Are you a light in your place of work etc. or are you something else? Determine to practicalise your Christianity.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord make me light, indeed.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me shine Your light in a way that it completely overcomes darkness.
