Matthew 1:18-2:2, Luke 2:13-14

Memory Verse:
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men! (Luke 2:13-14).

Christmas is one of the biggest festivals worldwide. Economic activities Cduring Christmas generate billions of dollars annually. The world focuses on the glittering lights, the Christmas trees, Father Christmas, the exchange of gifts and related matters. The level of decadence in human
behavior makes many question the need for the celebration. However, Christmas is a thanksgiving ceremony appreciating God for the gift of Jesus Christ to the world. It is the ceremony observed once a year for the birth of Jesus Christ. God did not allow the birth of Jesus Christ to go unnoticed; Angels announced the birth and sang the first noel (Luke 2:13-14), Wise men traveled from the east to worship the newborn king, the wise men were guided by a star which caused them to rejoice.
Unlike the present debauchery we see today in the name of Christmas, it should be a time for:
Forsaking all things and pursuing Jesus Christ, worshipping Him with all our hearts, our minds, and souls while reflecting on the love of God.
Fellowshipping and rejoicing in the congregation of believers, giving to others in love, serving others. Seeking reconciliation and forgiving those who have offended us and telling others joyfully about Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came purposefully to reconcile man to God. His birth brought joy
to the world, and we cannot but celebrate it. We must however be careful to celebrate His birth modestly, piously and in the pursuit of God, love, selfless service, evangelism, and the ideals for which Jesus lived. We must not celebrate His birth with reckless parties and ceremonies in the pursuit of lust and selfishness.

Prayer Points:
1. Thank you Father Lord for the gift of your only begotten Son, Jesus.
2. Father, please, give me a correct understanding of how best to celebrate Christmas.
