Text: 1 Kings 18:25-30
Memory Verse: “Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come near to me.’ So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down” (1 Kings 18:30).
People around you are searching for the true God having tried so many different things and seen them fail. Such was the case of the Israelites in Elijah’s days. The altar of God who brought them out of Egypt had broken down in many lives because of neglect, unbelief and strange doctrines. The people had worshipped Baal and right before their eyes, it had failed woefully.
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Similarly, Elijah invited the people to come near to him and he set about giving them hope and an alternative to Baal. He repaired the altar, setting it up according to God’s standard and holding out the living God as being able to do what Baal could not do. Elijah now needed a miracle. In his simple prayer he acknowledged that all he had done was by God’s power, that God needed to answer so the people may know He was the true God and so that the people’s hearts might be turned back to Him.
You need God’s help for people to be impacted by your life and efforts in ministry. You must invite them to come so you can help them in their search for the truth, but it is God who will ultimately bring them to know Him. Pray that
you will recognise those who are searching and confused, move close to them and let God prove Himself through answered prayers.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to recognise those who are searching for You the true God.
2. Prove Yourself as the One and only true God.
