Text: Matthew 26:14-16
Memory Verse: “Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, ‘What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?’ And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver” (Matthew 26:14-15).
God created man to work. He who will not work should not eat. Jesus taught the value of honest work and managing resources on His behalf in many parables. In the parable of the ten minas, the servants were given diverse amounts of money to “Invest this for me while I am gone” (Luke 19: 13b NLT). Many people miss this point and fail to engage in businesses, trades, or professions as agents of God. Life is worth living only if it pursues divine purposes.
John called Judas a thief (John 12:6). He loved making money and would not miss any opportunity to increase his personal wealth from the general purse. He learnt that the chief priests and the elders wanted an opportunity to arrest Jesus, and saw that as an occasion to make quick money. He sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Unfortunately, he did not live to enjoy the fruits of his greedy venture. He committed suicide the same day Jesus died (Matthew 27:3-5).
Any business that betrays God’s trust is a costly enterprise. God placed you in position and gave you opportunities to serve and honour Him. Do you consider God in your business, marriage, and relationships? Anything you do without
Christ is an open invitation to crisis and death. Whatever God gives you will bring blessings and peace. What you grab outside the plan of God will bring shame, tears, and death. Be watchful; do not engage in deadly ventures.
Prayer Points:
1. Thank You, Lord, for the opportunities You have given me to represent You in business.
2. Lord, help me not to engage in any fruitless and destructive business.
