Text: Luke: 24:13-21

Memory Verse: “But their eyes were restrained, so that they did not know Him. “(Luke 24:16).

These were two of Jesus’ disciples. They loved the Master and went all Tthe way with Him. They had interacted with Jesus and thought they knew Him and understood His mission. However, His death got them confused so much so that they walked in grief and sadness as they journeyed to Emmaus. According to them, they had hoped He would redeem Israel, but suddenly they saw their hopes dashed. He had been crucified! They had all the information, but they still couldn’t comprehend. They even heard that He was no longer in the tomb and knew He had said He would rise on the third day.

While there was no iota of doubt in their hearts, they just could not interpret all the information they had and so, when Jesus walked with them, they totally missed recognising Him. You believe Jesus, but your expectations of Him are within a particular context. You expect Him to manifest within the context and style you have imagined in your heart, so when He doesn’t match up to your expectations, you totally miss Him. Jesus is much closer to you than you have ever imagined and He will most likely not manifest the way you thought He would.

Open your heart, forget about what you imagined or knew. Release yourself to Him and let Him guide you into His perfect truth. God works in mysterious ways and His ways are past finding out. Don’t run ahead of Him. Follow Him
step by step and every day your vision will become clearer. Don’t miss Jesus! He is passing by you.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, help me to pull down every box within which I have kept Jesus.
2. Holy Spirit, please open my eyes to recognize the Master when He manifests in my life in Jesus’ name.
