Text: Isaiah 41:1-10

Memory Verse: “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

“Fear not” is one of the most encouraging statements in the Bible. We can overcome fear by having a good knowledge of God, knowing your worth before Him (Matthew 10:29-31), knowing your authority and heritage in Christ, living by God’s word so that, though the devil searches and searches, he will not find anything against you (Numbers 23:21, Romans 8:33, 2 Timothy 1:12).
Making your problems and challenges known to God makes your anxieties and fears fizzle away (Philippians 4:6-8). Realising that Jesus is still the same yesterday, today and forever enhances and strengthens your faith and drives away your fear. Remember, the one who says “Fear Not” is the creator of Heaven and Earth; the Almighty God, the One who can do all things.

The disadvantages of fear are that it torments, hinders you from moving forward to fulfill God’s purpose for your life, creates suspicion capable of breaking relationships, triggers sickness such as ulcer and high blood pressure, and can lead to suicidal attempt or even death. Although there is an aspect of fear that is advantageous in that it can motivate you to put in more effort, and do what you ordinarily would not dare do, the emphasis here is on the negative fear.

As humans, there is a tendency to express fear and anxiety, but when you realise your inheritance in Christ, that you are created to advance God’s kingdom and to influence your environment with kingdom values; fear will have no place inyour heart.

Prayer Points:
1. Heavenly Father, when I am overwhelmed with fear, reassure me that You are there with me.
2. Lord, help me to realise the essence of my existence and to pursue it.
