Text:
2 Timothy 4:1-8
Memory Verse:
“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:5).
Ministry is the assignment that a believer in Christ is saved to do in furtherance of the gospel, the salvation of souls, and edification ofthe church. Whilst we are not saved by the good works that we do, the Bible declares that we are saved to do good works as preordained by God (Ephesians 2:10).
A general ministry for every believer is the ministry of reconciliation. This is a persuasive work to unbelievers to come and see that the Lord is good. It is an invitation to the One who gives life in its abundance. Everything about the believer’s life must work towards convincing, rebuking, and exhorting others about the truth that Jesus is (John 14:1&2). This will be our most effective
weapon against all the lies that are designed by those who want to satisfy their selfish desires.
There is also a specific ministry that is peculiar to each believer. The spiritual gift that you receive when you receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour will guide you to this. It can be any or a combination of the following: prophesy, service, teaching, exhortation, giving, leading or showing mercy (Romans 12:6- 8). You must have a specific time for preparing for the service. It must be all
about God and His purpose for your life. You must form an alliance with other believers in the same ministry so that you can sharpen and encourage one another.
Are you taking your specific ministry as a calling for which you expect the righteous judge to reward your (1 Corinthians 15:58)?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I thank You for saving me so I can be Your workman.
2. Help me, Lord, to serve You diligently and cheerfully.
