Text:
John 1:14 -18
Memory Verse:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
Incarnation is the central christian doctrine which states that God assumed a human nature through jesus christ. The Holy spirit, the third person of the Trinity placed Jesus into Mary His mother’s womb (Luke 1:35). Hence, the three persons in the Trinity were actively involved in
the plan of salvation just as they were in creation.
Many people celebrate the birth of Jesus without fully appreciating the three main reasons why He
became man. The reasons are first, so that He could experience what it is like to be a man. Having been a partaker of the human nature, He is touched by our infirmities. He experienced the weakness of the flesh when He cried out that, ‘the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak’ (Mark 14:38). Secondly, He came so that He might give us an example of who God is. Imitating Him will make us imitators of God. Finally, He came to give His life as a ransom for the sins of mankind (Matthew 20:28). There is a sin debt that all men owe because of the fall of Adam and Eve, one
which we could not pay. The only cure for man’s sin is a substitute and a perfect one. He, the perfect Son of God, was the lamb of God that washed away the sins of the world.
So be wise. Stop trying to please God by your good works or acts of righteousness. Let the blood of Jesus cleanse you from all unrighteousness and empower you to be a child of God.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into the world to die for my sins.
