God Can Bring Them Alive Again!

Text:
Mark 5:1-3,35-42

Memory Verse:
“Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, ‘Talitha, cumi,’ which is translated, ‘Little girl, I say to you, arise.’ Immediately the girl arose” (Mark 5:41&42a).

The most frightening things about death are its note of finality and the disruptions it brings to life, plans and dreams. The death of a parent for some, results in changes in status, accommodation, school, financial support and, ultimately, dreams. Is it possible, however, to bury something alive? The statement “don’t bury me alive” has been used in protest when you are preempted and conclusions are being drawn before the final word about a matter has been heard. That, in a sense, was what happened to the little girl in Mark 5. She had been declared dead, though there was still life in her because God said so and was not done with her yet!
Other such examples in scripture are: the son of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:24-36, the young son of the Widow of Nain in Luke 7: 11-15 and of course Jesus’ friend, Lazarus, who had been dead for four days. In each of these cases, God was not done with the victims yet and, so, it appeared that they were being buried alive! In God’s eyes there was hope for them and they still
had life in them.
What is it that you have given up on and have buried alive? A dream, a plan, a marriage or even a child you believe can never do well? Let such faith as was expressed by the Shunammite woman to Elisha saying “It is well.” arise in your heart. God can and will bring that dream back to life, if you trust Him. He is not done with it yet.

Prayer Points:
1. You are the God of hope, please help my unbelief.
2. Lord, I turn over my dead dreams to You, please bring them back to life.
