Psalm 27:7-14
Memory Verse:
“Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14).
The Christian life is not child’s play as Christians, like other mortals, face difficulties, challenges and giants in life’s journeys. Waiting requires patience and becomes particularly difficult in challenging situations. David faced challenges and so will we. What does it mean to wait on the Lord? It means trusting and expecting God’s intervention in difficult times. It is having the knowledge that God is your light, salvation and strength through all life’s challenges. Our trust must stand in spite of how close, how many, how powerful or how equipped the enemies are.
The confidence of one waiting on God speaks of courage after which the Lord
will strengthen your heart. The waiting courageously precedes the strengthening (Psalm 40:1-3). Faith in the Lord requires a strong heart that seeks to please God. It is in living in His presence and for His purpose that you can gain His strength. It is in this strength that victory will come as He hides us while our enemies stumble and fall in His presence. He is faithful, merciful and
will always come through for us, lifting our heads from shame. Waiting on the Lord teaches us patience.
How then do you wait on God? Prayerfully, obediently, patiently, bravely, single-mindedly, humbly, quietly, continually and expectantly; believing to see rather than believing only after seeing (Psalm 62:5&6). Other helpers may fail, darkness may deepen and things may appear hopeless.
Still, it is wise to wait on the unfailing hand of God.
Prayer Points:
1. Strengthen me, O Lord, as I wait on You.
2. I choose to trust You in the face of difficulties, please help me.
