Matthew 19:27-29
Memory Verse:
“So Jesus said to them, ‘Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel'” (Matthew 19: 28).
Serving God definitely has rewards and these rewards are numerous. When we think about them, they motivate us to keep serving Him. I do not know of any believer in Christ who will not think of being with the Lord Jesus in heaven, receiving His smile of acceptance, and hearing His
commendation of “well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:22). Peter was very direct in his question about what reward awaits the disciples, having left all to follow Christ. So, Jesus assured him that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, those who have followed Him will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel and that
everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, wife, children or lands, for His name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and inherit eternal life.
Though many times, we get hurt by the fact that people whom we have helped turn their backs on us or betray us, know that God does not fail in His promises. He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 6:10 says, “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
Let us be encouraged by these comforting words of Apostle Paul and be diligent in serving God and obeying His commandments because there are rewards for every service rendered faithfully. Remember, God has not called us to serve Him in vain.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, let all of my services attract Your reward.
2. Lord, give me the grace to serve You diligently.
