Text: Luke 15: 11-16, 20-24
Memory Verse: “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7).
God never gives up on anyone. It is interesting to know that your journey with God and the level of your relationship with Him are both determined by you and not Him (Luke 15:17,18). It was the lost son who went back to his father. God, our Father, is constant. His love is constant. His mercies endure forever. He is self-existent and self-sustained.
When you understand Him, you will also run back to Him, irrespective of your sin. He will welcome you (Luke 15:20).
If you do not repent, you are proud. If you are too big to repent, you are too big to be forgiven and to receive a second chance. Do not die of self-condemnation.
It is not what people say about you that matters, but who you are before God. This is also a lesson for those who think they stand not to look down on anyone who seems to have fallen, but rather to encourage such a person. When helping people through difficult times, show them how God helped you in your vulnerable moments.
Many people see God only as a consuming fire or a righteous judge, but not as a loving and forgiving Father. God does not want you to sin; neither does He want you to remain an unrepentant sinner. He earnestly awaits every lost son to return. No matter how far you have gone, return to Christ today. He will warmly receive you, for He is the God of the second chance.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, have mercy and forgive me all my sins.
2. Lord, help me to live above sin and write my name in the book of life.
