Text: Psalm 66:8-12
Memory Verse: “You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; but You brought us out to rich fulfilment” (Psalm 66:12).
When we go through challenges, encounter difficult people and situations, we are quick to ask and wonder why we deserve such. God, however, might be using the people, the pain and the problem to bring out the best in us and to accomplish His will in our lives. God used people, pain and problems to bring the best out of Joseph and to get
him to the fulfilment of his dream. The Psalmist said “They bruised his feet with fetters and placed his neck in an iron collar. Until the time came to fulfil his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character” (Psalm 105:18-19NLT). David
was not exempted; he also experienced God using people, pain and problems to bring him to the throne.
Do you remember how you felt about the tests in school? At the time they felt like huddles but you now realise they were preparations. They revealed what you knew and qualified you to move to a higher grade. They equipped you for living in the real world. The Psalmist wrote, “For You, God, tested us; You refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs. You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance” (Psalm 66:10-12 NIV). God will use people, pain, and problems to test you so that He can bring you to “a place of abundance.”
Prayer Points:
1. Father, please grant me an understanding of what I am experiencing at the moment.
2. Father, in Your mercy, bring me to a place of abundance.
